Previously, Ian worked for Applied Predictive Technologies (acquired by Mastercard) where he led SaaS engagements helping Fortune 500 companies apply analytics to improve decision-making across pricing, product, marketing, operations, and capital investment. Ian believes Bitcoin is the most significant discovery of our lifetimes with the potential to fundamentally change humanity’s relationship with money and empower billions around the world with access to a secure, reliable, neutral settlement network for storing and transacting value. In his spare time, Ian creates Bitcoin educational content for his YouTube channel and never ceases to amaze (and exhaust) his friends and relatives with how much one person can talk about Bitcoin.

Paul Hurlocker is the Chief Technology officer at Spring Oaks Capital. Prior to that, he served as a Vice President in the Center for Machine Learning at Capital One, an in-house consultancy and center of excellence for machine learning product delivery, innovation, education, and research and development. Paul joined Capital One through the acquisition of Notch, a machine learning consulting firm that Paul co-founded in 2014. Prior to founding Notch and serving as its Chief Executive Officer until its 2017 acquisition, Paul served in senior software engineering roles at Red Hat, Affinion, and other leading technology firms.

Stuart VonCanon is a Detective with the Henrico County Police Division who is currently assigned to the FBI Richmond Cyber Task Force.  As a member of the Task Force, Stuart is responsible for the investigation of a wide array of cyber-crime matters, including: computer intrusions, Internet fraud, intellectual property rights infringements, theft of trade secrets, wire fraud, and the use of computer networks to facilitate such schemes.

Sean McDermott

Sean McDermott is an Intelligence Analyst in the FBI’s Richmond Field Office. For the past 17 years, Sean has been working cyber investigations and threat intelligence for the FBI covering a multitude of cyber crimes ranging from computer intrusions related to malware, botnets, and ransomware, to complex Internet fraud schemes such as money mules/money laundering, wire fraud, and theft of trade secrets.

Bob Stolle

Bob Stolle is President and CEO of the Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation (VIPC) in Virginia. Bob leads VIPC in its mission to create and execute strategies to accelerate innovation, imagination, and the next generation of technology and technology companies. He is responsible for overall strategic planning, financial management, and employee engagement for the organization. He is also directly accountable for outreach to and collaboration with the business and education communities and the Commonwealth of Virginia government.

Previously Bob Stolle held the position of Senior Vice President of Policy and Regional Initiatives at VIPC. His responsibilities included coordinating programs and policy initiatives across four VIPC service lines that work to expand commercialization, capital formation, market development, and revenue generation services in Virginia.

Representing VIPC, Bob serves on the GO Virginia Guideline Workgroup, he is on the executive committee of the University-Based Economic Developers (UBED), the GENEDGE Alliance, and is on the Boards of eight regional technology Councils in Virginia. He co-chaired “Technology, Innovation & Startups” for the Virginia Chamber’s “Blueprint Virginia” strategic plan. He serves on the Investment Advisory Board for the Launch Place Seed Fund in Danville.

Bob served in several key positions for the Commonwealth of Virginia during the administration of Governor George Allen, including Secretary of Commerce and Trade, where he was responsible for 15 state agencies and promoting economic and community development in the Commonwealth.

Since then, he has served on the technology transitions teams for Governors Warner, Kaine, McDonnell, McAuliffe, and Northam.

He started and grew the Greater Richmond Technology Council (now RVA Tech) to 400 corporate members in the private sector. Bob was Executive Vice President and COO of Richmond-based Core Consulting and, previously, engineering director for the global leader in military and space simulation and training systems.

Bob has an engineering degree from the US Naval Academy. He served on active duty and in the Reserves as a Navy pilot and retired with the rank of Commander.
