"Tech-It-Yourself" Insider Threat Overview: Leveraging the Benefits of Behavioral Science Research
November 10th, 2020
12:00pm – 1:00pm
MITRE’s insider threat capability is comprised of rigorous and data-driven frameworks, indicators, methodologies, interventions, operational successes, and thought leadership to counter the risk from harmful acts undertaken by trusted employees inside an organization. MITRE’s subject matter expertise uniquely spans a spectrum of harmful cyber and non-cyber (behavioral) insider attacks, including those that originate from malicious or non-malicious (e.g., negligent, mistaken, outsmarted) employees. We recognize that insider threat is not solely a technological issue but has an inherently human component. Our work uniquely leverages the behavioral sciences and technical sciences in combination to more effectively counter insider threat. Dr. Deanna Caputo, a social psychologist and MITRE’s Chief Scientist for Behavioral Sciences and Cybersecurity will provide an overview of insider threat research and present the MITRE Insider Risk Behavioral Framework.
