2023 MLM Award Winners

Margaret Lyn McDermid (MLM) Women in Technology Award Winners Announced

On March 21st, hundreds of attendees gathered at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) for the Richmond Technology Council’s (rvatech/) annual announcement of the Margaret Lyn McDermid Awards presented by CoStar Group.

The Margaret Lyn McDermid Women in Technology Awards were established to honor women who have made significant contributions to the field of technology. These awards recognize women who have demonstrated excellence in leadership, innovation, and creativity, and who have shown a commitment to inspiring and mentoring other women in the field.

Margaret Lyn McDermid was a trailblazer in the field of technology. She was the first woman to serve as President of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and she played a key role in establishing the ACM’s Women in Computing program. Throughout her career, McDermid was a passionate advocate for women in technology, and she worked tirelessly to create opportunities for women to succeed in the field.

The MLM Awards were established in honor of McDermid’s continuing legacy, as she should be an inspiration to any young person, especially any woman, who desires to become a technologist.
