December 6, 2018
Richmond, VA – The Richmond Technology Council, RVATECH, is pleased to announce that Nick Serfass has been elected to serve as the council’s new Executive Director.
Serfass most recently served as the Executive Director of the American Institute of Architecture Students, where he successfully managed operations of a 5,600-member organization. Prior to this, he served as a Project Architect locally for Baskervill, followed by time in D.C. as the Assistant Director of Internship + Education for the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
Serfass obtained his bachelor’s from the University of Virginia, Master of Architecture from the University of Miami, and his Master of Business Administration from Auburn University.
“After an extensive search, we are thrilled to have found Nick to serve as the council’s next Executive Director. He brings tremendous energy, experience, and a unique perspective that will serve him well as he steps into this leadership role,” said Kim Mahan, Chair of the Board of Directors. “His collaborative approach, understanding of the increasing impact technology has on our ecosystem, and tremendous entrepreneurial spirit will be valuable assets to the entire Richmond technology community.”
“Although I come from a background in architecture, I have a long-held passion for the technology sector and all of its possibilities and capabilities. I am looking forward to the tremendous amount of potential to support and elevate the industry and its professionals in new and creative ways. The chance to make this type of impact in Richmond, a place where I’ve lived for most of my life, is a personally satisfying opportunity that I can’t wait to embrace.” Serfass said.
Serfass, who was unanimously voted by the board to oversee all operational aspects of the council, will begin his role in the new year.
