Job Summary

Dominion Energy seeks candidates for a Software Systems Engineer position located in Richmond, Virginia. This position's responsibilities include supporting an OSI Pi administrative and all components of Pi for our Power Generation fleet.   
A broad knowledge and/or willingness to learn a variety of skills from configuration, programming, automation, business operations etc. will be required. It is essential the successful applicant be a highly motivated self-starter that can and will be responsible for their work with minimal direction and supervision.  
This role works independently, formulates or defines specifications for complex software programming applications or modifies/maintains complex existing code. 
Candidate works at the highest technical level on all phases of software systems and programming applications.  
Candidate is responsible for working with an individual business unit on multi-project assignments. 

Additional responsibilities include: 
Working with an application dealing with the overall operating system and complex in operation and 
activities. Monitoring and tuning performance of OSI Pi systems. Connecting new technologies to existing historian system with a variety of protocols. Supporting OSI Soft Pi Server configuration, security and maintenance. Supporting systems using NERC CIP standards Participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation. Planning, designing, implementing, enhancing and maintaining complex systems for our business partners.  

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Basic Qualifications:

• Master's degree with 2+ years related IT experience OR;
• Bachelor's degree with 3+ years related IT experience, Computer Engineering preferred, Computer Science or equivalent acceptable.

Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of Electrical Operations and/or Power Generation is a plus.

• Experience and understanding of the utility industry and/or power generation.

• Experience working with IT group and service providers to apply technology solutions to businesses.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated organization and planning skills that include coordination of assigned projects, planning and scheduling, and time management.
• Ability to work independently, in a support capacity, or a lead role on critical short-term and long-term projects.
• Successfully coordinate activities and solutions with team members and teams from multiple areas of the company.
• Solid analytical skills and demonstrated skills in analyzing and solving problems and issues of varying complexity and providing detailed documentation regarding issues and resolution.
• Ability to manage multiple work efforts simultaneously.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze business processes for both ‘as is’ and ‘to be’ states.
• Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for strengthening business processes and systems proactively.
• Capability and willingness to learn rapidly, ask questions, and retain the information provided during the process.
• Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined above.
