YOUR ROLE

As a member of the Long Term Care (LTC), In-force Pricing Data Management team, you are responsible for providing subject matter expertise on the data. You will play a critical role in enhancing our organization by using data and analytics to drive business strategy, increasing automation and enhancing the usage of data. You will partner closely with process teams, cross-functional teams and project teams to ensure business needs are met that will be used to drive business decisions and improve processes.

 

You will demonstrate thought leadership, manage complex projects, build relationships and communicate effectively. You will possess advanced analytical skills with the ability to turn data into knowledge and information that can be used to support decision making throughout the company. It is essential to develop an in-depth understanding of the business to be able to identify and address critical issues.

 

On any given day you will be:

 

• Determining and documenting proper usage of data to meet the business needs including integration of actuarial concepts

• Creating a knowledge bank of product offerings, product behavior/differences and admin system implementation

• Analyzing data to answer specific data queries under tight time constraints

• Working with large and complex databases containing millions of records

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Represent IFA as their product and data usage expert, including upstream and downstream uses and implications 

• Investigate and document product behavior and admin system implementation to ensure proper use and quality of data

• Own implementation of new products and alternative offerings into the In-Force Pricing data, processes and models

• Specify requirements and review test plans and results for current and future projects to ensure proper logic for varying product behavior or implementation

• Identify, analyze and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets

• Mine and manipulate data using a variety of analytical tools, including but not limited to: SQL, Python, Spotfire, SAS, Power BI or related BI software, etc.

• Develop requirements for data-related projects and work with the IT team to oversee projects throughout the entire process

• Perform setup/testing for new data needs while utilizing quantitative techniques to test hypotheses and analyze the impact of updates

• Solve complex problems utilizing creative solutions and new perspectives

• Conduct root cause analysis to determine reason for an issue, impact of that issue and propose solution to resolve the issue and prevent future errors

• Work with cross-departmental teams to understand and capture data analysis and reporting requirements, including the metrics and methodologies to be used

• Exhibit project management, prioritization, and managing multiple conflicting priorities

 

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in an analytical or technical discipline

• At least 3 years of product ownership

• At least 5 years of quantitative and qualitative data analysis and data modeling experience in a dynamic environment

• Hands-on Advanced SQL

• Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel (e.g., developing pivot tables, linking to external data, automating with VBA)

• Knowledge of LTC products and/or implementations

• Good working knowledge of actuarial concepts

• Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple and changing priorities

• Ability to influence and work collaboratively in a team and build relationships with cross-functional areas

• Excellent verbal and written communications skills

• Strong team player to cross-organizational boundaries and communicate across different disciplines

• Ability to set (and at times reset) expectations with management on delivery of objectives

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Admin System Implementation knowledge

• Database/ETL experience

• Knowledge of actuarial principles, practices and procedures and industry issues as they relate to the organization
